Bathing Boxes at Brighton Beach

When I knew I was going to Melbourne I was ecstatic because I will finally see the colourful bathing boxes. These painted beach huts were apparently built over a century ago in response to very Victorian ideas of morality and seaside bathing. Well, these famous beach huts have made it to one of the most photographed locations on this picturesque stretch of Brighton Beach coastline.

It was at the end of the winter when we went there but the place was crowded as ever. It was so hard to get a decent picture without being photo bombed unknowingly. But my photographer was sharp and keen to manage taking good ones where it looked like it wasn't swarmed by people at all.

 

I'm not gonna lie, I was shivering that afternoon in this shirt dress. But I just couldn't wear boots and jeans on the beach so I had to wear this outfit (blogger problem I know :)) And it didn't help that the sun was playing hide and seek too.

Shirt dresses and stripes are big trends as of the moment so I incorporated them both and took it to the beach, cold beach I must say :) But this would be a great beach wear given the moderate temperature as this is soft, comfy and easy to wear with swimmers underneath. And don't forget that nautical stripes theme.

 

Can you believe each hut could fetch close to 300 grand easily? A new beach box has sold for a record of $285,000 early this year.

So, I was picking the boxes that I want although my favourite would be No. 2 which has an Australian flag. It has perfectly matched my coat, what is yours?
