Day Trip to the Hunter Valley

For a wine, cheese and chocolate connoisseur whenever you're in Sydney head to Hunter Valley and you'll be greeted with the finest selection. For a 2 hour drive north of Sydney this is a must to visit for travellers and locals alike. While I'm not a wine collector (hubby is) I would surely vouch for the rare selection of chocolates while my kids would go for the cheese variety. Not only for these items this place tops but also for the lush greenery, laid back lifestyle as well as superb restaurants and wonderful adventures.

Flower Power

The mercury's dropping and at last I can wear boots although ankle boots for now. And it ain't no plain boots, I'm kicking flowers in these heels. Embroidery trend is going further, now I have them in my shoes.

Velvet Dress and Pleated Skirt @ Sammydress

Christmas is upon us and while my friends from the Northern Hemisphere are clothed in layers I am putting away my jackets, coats and fur vests in favour of playsuits and lace dresses. Luckily, there are outfits that can be worn for both sides and ends of the world and these are the velvet dresses and midi pleated skirts. Only a matter of styling and the kind of footwear to slip on one is ready to face the kind of day it will be.

Off-shoulder Top and Fringe Hem Jeans from Nastydress

Off-the-shoulder is undoubtedly one of the biggest trends this year and obviously I'm not over it yet. It seems exposed shoulders are the chicest way to show some skin. And for the denim department a trend that is hot at the moment is the fringe hem. An interesting iteration of the 'ripped' style the quirky fringe will have its place in the spotlight. It’s time to liven up the party, get with the maximalist times and rejuvenate our denim closets.

The Graffiti art of Hosier Lane

One peculiar thing Melbourne is known for is its spray-printed streets. The Graffiti Management Plan of Melbourne established permits for artists and endorsed their work in designated areas of the city. Right on the same day we toured the major CBD attractions, we detoured to the famous Hosier Lane.

My worst blogger problem happened on this shoot and that was forgetting to bring sunnies. It was a really nice warm autumn day but windy and sun-drenched so I've been squinting the whole time which was so evident on the photos.

Four Seasons in a Day

Spring in Australia is unpredictable as. Well, you can continue the sentence but what I am referring is the crazy weather that you can experience in a day. Four seasons in one day is easily achievable, you wake up feeling cold and don’t know exactly what to wear until you check the weather forecast which is at least pretty much accurate. As soon as the sun shines it gets warmer and sometimes becomes unbearably hot from the middle of the day ‘til late arvo. And because hot weather causes lots of surface water to evaporate into the atmosphere, it eventually comes back down in a form of rain. Or if it rises quickly and cools quickly you can get hail as the raindrops stay aloft due to convection currents rising. But more than likely a thunderstorm is happening first before a heavy rainfall. This exactly happened last week, it was very humid and sticky from midday then I heard a thunderbolt so I went out immediately to get my clean laundry from the hills hoist. Didn’t even finish one line then I felt the hail dropping on my head. Lucky it wasn’t as big as golf balls or I’ll be in a great amount of pain :) In less than 3 minutes I was completely soaked. From then on it became colder all throughout the night.

The Trench and the Boys

I have to publish this post before the end of cold season in Southern hemisphere. While trench coats are colourful and mood uplifter on a rather dreary and cold mornings, I wouldn’t wear these to work on a normal winter’s day since it couldn’t really protect me from Sydney harbour’s chilly wind even in mid morning or early night. I like wearing trench on a Sunday to church or when I’m out and about with the boys in the shops and around the neighbourhood.

My love for trench is growing and here goes a juxtaposition of my trench coats and the boys. First up in green trench with black and white stripes lining. It’s nice donning it with a body-hugging dress underneath so it won’t look frumpy then leave it unbuttoned.
