So just like that, 2016 is waving goodbye and now we're ringing in the new year. ls there anything you wish you would have done and achieved before this year ended? Don't fret, you're not the only one. I too would like to do so many tasks but surprise surprise there was so little time. One thing for sure, as long as the sun rises we can be full of hope to accomplish those dreams that are left unattained. So 2017 will be the year for that, hopefully for me too.

Warm Christmas Cheer from Down Under
How is it that 1 more sleep and it's Christmas already? Not that I don't like it, it's my most favourite time of the year. The festive atmosphere, the cheer in the air and the love around is overwhelming. I did my last minute Christmas shopping and Sydney was just full of shoppers, I could barely moved. And now I'm broke haha. Not from the Christmas presents but from my holiday in Gold Coast, the kids were just high maintenance ;-))

The Blues
I never realised I like blue dresses until I found many of them in my closet. How am I not aware of them and how did they accumulate, I cannot remember. As for my bags which I carefully chose, I only have a handful in blue and that's including this tote from Oroton.

Velvet Dress and Pleated Skirt @ Sammydress
Christmas is upon us and while my friends from the Northern Hemisphere are clothed in layers I am putting away my jackets, coats and fur vests in favour of playsuits and lace dresses. Luckily, there are outfits that can be worn for both sides and ends of the world and these are the velvet dresses and midi pleated skirts. Only a matter of styling and the kind of footwear to slip on one is ready to face the kind of day it will be.

Pinafore Dress at a School Fete
One of the important things I learned as a mother is never to lose your inner child and that you can still have fun especially with your children. Sure, motherhood is a serious matter, raising and disciplining your children is a darn hard job but chilling out is equally important. Probably, that's why there are school activities that involve the participation of parents. Not only to raise money for the school :) but to also encourage social interaction among families. So we went to one of my sons' school fete where we stuffed ourselves with food and drinks and watched him take on many different rides. I wore this pinafore dress and cold shoulder top to go with the event.

Embroidery and Slip Dress Trends - Zaful Review and Giveaway
Two of the biggest trends at the moment that I haven't tackled in my blog yet are the embroidered and slip dresses. And I'm so excited to rock these outfits right here right now :) Got both of these dresses from Zaful which is one of my favourite online stores. Love this shop not only because of its reasonable prices but most of all for its updated trends and speedy delivery. Honestly, nothing to complain but pure shopping pleasure.

Transitional outfit - H&M Studio hoodie + One Teaspoon shorts
This time of the year is one of those in-between kind of weather where I don't know what to wear. Chilly in the morning and early evening but warm in the midday. I found this H&M Studio AW16 hoodie still lurking in my closet waiting to be worn. The intricate embroidery and beadwork of this hoodie is just mesmerising.

Melbourne Skyline
Whenever I visit a new city I want to go to the highest place where I can have an aerial view. If going to an observatory deck is not possible I would be happy to settle in the rooftop of the hotel that I am staying. The coolest rooftop that I've been so far is that of Marina Bay Sands in Singapore maybe because of their famous infinity pool.

Off-shoulder Top and Fringe Hem Jeans from Nastydress
Off-the-shoulder is undoubtedly one of the biggest trends this year and obviously I'm not over it yet. It seems exposed shoulders are the chicest way to show some skin. And for the denim department a trend that is hot at the moment is the fringe hem. An interesting iteration of the 'ripped' style the quirky fringe will have its place in the spotlight. It’s time to liven up the party, get with the maximalist times and rejuvenate our denim closets.

Bathing Boxes at Brighton Beach
When I knew I was going to Melbourne I was ecstatic because I will finally see the colourful bathing boxes. These painted beach huts were apparently built over a century ago in response to very Victorian ideas of morality and seaside bathing. Well, these famous beach huts have made it to one of the most photographed locations on this picturesque stretch of Brighton Beach coastline.

Art and Beauty in Fitzroy
When shopping and good food are together in one sentence, it would definitely be worth checking. And this pretty much describes Fitzroy the oldest suburb of Melbourne which happens to be also one of the coolest and most hip. On my second day in Melbourne I was ready to jump in donning my unworn cobalt blue coat and white jeans but my Melburnian friends had something better in mind.

The Graffiti art of Hosier Lane
One peculiar thing Melbourne is known for is its spray-printed streets. The Graffiti Management Plan of Melbourne established permits for artists and endorsed their work in designated areas of the city. Right on the same day we toured the major CBD attractions, we detoured to the famous Hosier Lane.

Places to see in Melbourne Central
On the last week of August I went to Melbourne and had the most of my 3 days visiting the popular spots, indulging in the best cafes and getting lost in the little painted alley ways. Going to a new place and trying new food is made easy these days with the help of Google maps and Trip Advisor/Zomato reviews. While you can be self-reliant because of these technologies, nothing beats when you have a friend who is a local to the city to show you around. Just makes life so much easier and the time ultra maximised.

Sydney Tall Ship Cruise
This would have been a perfect day if only it was sunny. Such a cliché but I decided not to dampen my mood with anything especially with factors not under my control. To be honest, I didn't really notice that Mr. Sun was not out that day all I had in my mind was to enjoy this tall ship cruise with my friends no matter what.

Off Shoulder Top at The Grounds
This is one of the places in Sydney that I've been longing to see. It's known to have the best coffee, in fact, it's become an urban sanctuary and institution for café scene. The place was an industrial estate with a mill transformed into a bustling cafes, cubby houses and flower shop with carnival lights, hanging planters, organic produce and happy animals.

Fur Vest in Blue Mountains
These are the Three Sisters, a famous rock formation in the Blue Mountains which are roughly 2 hours drive from Sydney. Their names are Meehni, Wimlah and Gunnedoo and they are visited by millions of people per year. Which explains how hard it was to get a solo picture with a clearing of 2 metres in my side. I had chances for less than 10 seconds only to be nudged again by somebody who's eager to have a photo with them in the background. I can't even get my 'not so obvious' candid shots or dramatic poses without being pressured that somebody would take my place. The fail safe pose would just be to smile.

Beanies and Gloves
I am thankful that we don't have harsh winter down under but sometimes I also want to wrap myself up in some knitwear. I can actually get to do this in the early mornings and at night time but skip it during midday unless I want to toast myself. But for coordinated dressing up I am willing to compromise especially when I have beanies and gloves that completely rock the teddy look.

Over-the-knee Boots
I've been waiting to wear these over-the-knee boots from Tony Bianco which I got at the end of summer to prep for the cold season. But there's just wasn't an occasion to strut them aside from going to the beaches and strolling the city. So I created an occasion and that was for hubby's birthday dinner in a restaurant. He's my photographer most of the time and he normally checks if I dress appropriately. But for his special day he can't say no if I dress like this :)

Blue Jeans and Tweed Jacket
The first time I laid my eyes on this tweed jacket I felt my eyes were being glued. No matter how much I shrugged it off, I kept stealing glances until I gave in. Who cares about my weekly budget I thought, I would be more regretful if I pass it up. It would cost more actually if I will come back for it later, my time and my effort I think are priceless :) So I've convinced myself successfully.

Green Trench at Sydney Sea Life Aquarium
When's the last time you went to an aquarium? My last visit was more than 10 years ago. I guess adults don't have an inclination to see the marine life in big tanks unless they are exploring a new city. To be honest, I only got to go to Sydney Sea Life Aquarium because I accompanied my mum and my niece who were visiting Australia. My previous visit was for the same reason and that was with my friend from America. Oh well, thank God for visiting family and friends, if not for them I wouldn't have found Nemo and Dory :)

Tweed and Fringe Jacket in North Sydney
The working days that I love the most are those when I'm attending training classes in another place. Much better if it's overseas but a few kilometres away is enough for me to feel ecstatic. Well, this time it's only in the other side of the Harbour Bridge but the training centre has 180 degrees unobstructed views of the harbour.

White Leather Jacket and Boots for Fishing
Unlike going to a picnic, fishing runs on a timetable if you want to be serious about it. Serious means to be able to catch the right fish at the right time. Apparently, fishing in Australia is a serious game. You need a license to be able to throw a line and the fish caught must be of a legal size else it has to be thrown and released back to the water.

Coogee Beach on a Winter Day
Wondering how Sydney beaches look like during cold season? Coogee beach one of Sydney's Eastern beaches is known for its great cafes and a haven for families. It is sharing the same coastline with Bondi, hence the famous Bondi to Coogee walk. We went there so early, earlier than my normal weekend wake up call just to have a big breakfast. At least we were not disappointed.

Places to Hang Around in Sydney
As I've covered the 2 famous harbours of Sydney in my previous posts, now I will show the places to hang around in the metro. I'm in the wandering mood as of the moment since my niece is visiting so you can practically see me in different places often times than normal. In here, I pretty much acted like a visitor to my own city. Hey, what's not to love about it, Sydney is beautiful to sight see. Take note, these locations can be covered in one day depending how fast you stroll and how easily you get bored and move to the next. So here goes the list.

Knitted Dress at Darling Harbour
Sydney has another harbour located in the Central Business District area though less popular than Sydney Harbour itself where the bridge and Opera House are. This second one I'm talking about is Darling Harbour and it's the home of the Sea Life Aquarium, Wax Museum and Australian National Maritime Museum among others.

Distressed Jeans for Day and Night
Surprise surprise, in case you haven't noticed it's the first time I wear jeans in my blog. Not that I don't wear jeans but after the creation of tights and jeggings I prefer to slip on black tights as much as possible and enjoy the feeling that I'm still in my couch even if I'm outside running errands. But that has to break for now as I jump on the distressed jeans bandwagon.

Irresistible Me
I think my physical trademark is my long straight hair, this has always been me since I can remember. I've changed colours, had highlights and sported a fringe every now and then but my hair has always been long and straight. So it is only normal that I get sick of it too and would like some waves but I want it temporarily and soft curls as much as possible. In my desire to sport waves I had my hair curled on my wedding day. You see, it had marked one of the most important events of my life. After that, I had to go to a hair salon or begged somebody to do the curling iron for me. Yea, I could have done it myself but I once burned my finger and vowed not to do it again :(

Off the Shoulder + Denim Skirt
Here's my take on the off the shoulder trend which I paired with a button down denim skirt. They're both from a known Aussie brands, Sabo Skirt and Sportsgirl respectively. Love the soft fabric of the top and it's uncreasable which is the exact opposite of the denim skirt.

High Tea for Mother's Day
Sometimes we just need to let go from our inhibitions and harsh confinement of ourselves. I can be talking about strict diet, extreme routines and rigorous exercise for which in this case I surely mean about eating regime. I think high tea is one of those really not needed kind of meals but is just so nice to indulge every now and then. And that’s what I exactly did one Saturday afternoon where I dragged my mum and my niece to a sugar and cream loaded food treat, layer upon and layer of it.

White Cut Out Detail
Ok, this is a different kind of LWD as this has a cut out detailing at the front and a massive one at the back. But I tell you, it is super comfortable and airy, naturally. This is ideal to wear in the beach, in the garden or in a party though it requires loads of confidence since there is no place to hide a normal bra. You have to be creative how to protect the front but the fabric is double lined so you can just let it go without wearing a support. As I mentioned tons of confidence is all it needs.

Brown Suede
There is no denying the morning chill and afternoon breeze have slowly crept in the Southern hemisphere. Pretty soon I will be wrapped in heavy coats and flowy trench. While there are still warm middays and taunting sunrays I shall be donning sleeveless lace-up tops and crochet wedges.

Ruffles and Romance
You can get lost following the Spring/Summer 2016 runway trends if you don't know where to shop. The trends consisting of Graphic Stripes, Pyjama/Boudoir, Cold Shoulder and Ruffles are housed at the hippest and most reliable online store - Farfetch. Its slogan '400 Boutiques, 1 Address' aptly describes this swish shop. No need to visit multiple sites to search for that most coveted frock nor create several accounts to complete your wishlist as Farfetch has it all. Not to mention the latest fashions of the major designers can be found in this store.
So excited to team up with Farfetch to showcase the Ruffles and Romance trend. Think of flamenco ruffles, cascading tiers and frilled capes, this trend is mesmerising us all with its Victorian influence. So here are my picks on the different dress styles all with ruffles and flares, and how they shine even more with the right shoes, bags and accessories.
Who wouldn't love Zimmermann?
It only requires one glance and you know if that dress or bikini is
Zimmermann. This Aussie label's take on ruffles is of another level,
with sophisticated femininity and yet delicate original prints.

Etro's
luxe couture can never be mistaken much less copied. This Italian
fashion house is best known for its detailed paisley patterned design and
the featured ruffle mini dress above just prove my point.
And who hasn't heard of Self-Portrait?
Well dressed celebrities and fashion bloggers are globe-trotting with
these feminine and urban-inspired pieces. The intricate lace signatures
with price that doesn't intimidate, nothing is stopping the rise of this
fashion label.

Maxi dress has been and will remain a staple summer/spring dress. This Ferragamo maxi is an epitome of elegance, class and comfort. Need I say more? One look at it and you can get the picture.

I enjoyed browsing the website so much and curating the pieces that by the end of it all I was convinced it's all for me and I just have to add them into my cart and proceed to check-out. So I had to do a reality check to brush off my delusion :) But I hope you can relate my ohhhs and ahhhs looking at these ruffle trend sets. After all, they are beautiful statement pieces, bewitching and oh so sought after.

Black Silhouette
Unlike typical dinner dates with solitude and pure enjoyment with each other's company this one we had was chaperoned by our toddler. Due to lack of babysitter we're left of no choice but to tag him along. In fairness he made us last from entree to dessert although we had to shorten each course and just barely made it. I had to dress up for the night in black as opposed to our anniversary lunch (previous post) where I wore the whitest of white.

How to carry a Chanel Bag
This is one of my lunchtime quickie snaps around the city and it happened I was carrying my seasonal Chanel bag. Most seasonal releases I find are conceptually out-of-this-world but nevertheless beautiful, blame it to the eccentric boss Karl Lagerfeld. But this beauty that I was holding is more similar to the classic bag only this is lighter, single flap and has a shorter chain. The hardware is matte gold and the quilting is not as puffy. It is very lightweight albeit it has nautical charms attached.

Neoprene in Cerulean
We have a fair advantage of the sun lately as I feel we have the longest summer. Even on mid-March we're still experiencing balmy nights and sultry mornings. I am thankful for it, the scintillating sun that's reflecting the dazzling water in the harbour is a good testament to it.

One of the top colours that should be in your wardrobe that will work for every occasion is Olive Green. The utilitarian trend seems to be invading the fashion world for quite a few years now.

Firmoo Glasses Giveaway
Gone are those days for me to say no to eyeglasses because they make me look old. Yes, those were my exact words some time ago even if my eyes badly needed a pair of spectacles. You see, I can’t identify someone in a range of 20 metres away if my eyes are naked. I can’t read road signs in far distance nor I can see the house numbers in the street if they are not really next to me. I know, I can’t be a good courier because I will miss a lot of deliveries :).
